A great answer addresses the original question, and might include examples or links to more info. If you copy an invoice, make sure the 'contact (optional)' is blank and the new invoice will not save until you add a contact. We get this isn’t an option to completely turn the feature off, however the impact of this change should improve the speed at which your invoices load and save.

I've included the thread for this below, so be sure to check in there for updates on this. It's really not a big ask and would make things monumentally a better experience. What's the pint in having a save button if it saves all changes anyway (irrespective of whether they're unwanted or incorrect).
Does anyone have an idea if the following issues in the new invoicing feature have been rectified?
Exclude new auto save updates from history and notes. Enter your invoice details and enter the contact last. Do away with autosave or at least give us an option to turn it off. It made sense to save these when it was manual but now it just clutters the history so badly with every auto save.
Please enable us to disable auto save on the new invoicing. The whole billing screen is now a nightmare for users (not just me looking at the numerous threads on this!) but. Turnoff auto save or have an undo option. Can the auto save function be disabled for the new invoice layout?
All we ask is for the *option* to disable this feature.
